Vienna won a thrilling 3x3 basketball final as they defeated Amsterdam 22-20 in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Wuxi 2024 on Wednesday, 2 October.

Enis Murati sealed Vienna’s victory with a clean two-pointer on the last play of the game, taking his tally to 12 points to seal the deal in the People’s Republic of China.

The Austrian side contested a hard-fought final in the Chinese city, going right to the end to earn their second title of 2024 in dramatic fashion.

Vienna and Amsterdam exchanged blows throughout the match, neither able to grow a lead though mostly due to the quality on offer.

The Dutch team’s players benefitted from points across the board, while Vienna could count on Murati’s accurate shooting and Quincy Diggs’ game-high of seven rebounds.

Little separated the two sides, and they had both reached the 20-point mark with over two-and-a-half minutes left on the clock.

From there it was a straight shootout for the championship point, where Vienna’s solid defence proved pivotal to prevent the Amsterdam onslaught of chances.

After withstanding a minute of agonising pressure, Murati recovered the ball, headed to the edge and swept in for two to win the game for Vienna.

Diggs was awarded the tournament MVP award for a standout campaign in Wuxi.

Vienna go second in the tour standings with their second title after triumphing in Almaty in July. They now six 60 points off Serbian side Ub Huishan NE, who remain top after consecutive third-place finishes in China.

Meanwhile, Amsterdam down in sixth will have a chance at redemption on home soil in the next leg of the World Tour, to be played on 12-13 October in the Dutch capital.
