Bahrain-based 3x3 basketball team Riffa kept their unbeaten run intact in Shanghai with a 20-15 win over Paris to secure their first World Tour title on Sunday (22 September), live on Olympics.com.

Riffa was in fine fettle on the ninth stop in the series, beating top seed Ub Huishan NE by just one point in the semi-final for a shot at their first title win at FIBA 3x3 World Tour Shanghai 2024.

Riffa made a strong start to their season finishing third at the opener Utsunomiya before some indifferent performances. They found their groove again at last month’s Debrecen tournament where they finished in third place.

Riffa topped Pool D in Shanghai after wins over Belgrade and Lausanne before they swept past Vienna in the quarter-finals.

In the final, Riffa had to eliminate a three-point (5-2) disadvantage to even the scores at 7-all before they found their foothold.

Riffa stepped up a gear halfway into the contest scoring five unanswered points with Thibaut Vervoort starring for the Bahraini team with seven points to his name.

Dennis Donkor, who was named tournament MVP, contributed eight points in his side’s victory. He scored a total of 34 points in Shanghai.
