For sliding fans the world over, the excitement of the new winter season is within touching distance.

The bobsleigh, luge and skeleton world cups will see the best athletes on the planet battling for supremacy as they tour the globe with the hopes of winning the much-coveted overall titles.

In last year’s bobsleigh world cup, familiar names - and a familiar nation - dominated proceedings, with Germany’s four-time Olympic gold medallist Francesco Friedrich taking the overall title after victories in both the four-man and two-man competitions.

Triumphs in both formats at the 2024 world championships only added to the 34-year-old’s legend, and he once again enters the new season as the clear - and deserved - title favourite.

But it’s not just Friedrich shining for Germany, as Laura Nolte reigned supreme in the women’s combined standings and Lisa Buckwitz took the title in the one-woman monobob, which made its Olympic debut at Beijing 2022.

The super-speedy skeleton World Cup season saw Britain’s Matt Weston and Netherlands’ Kimberley Bos claim the overall titles, with Weston pipping world champion Christian Grotheer of Germany to win the gold crystal globe trophy for the first time. Bos claimed her second victory since 2022, showing just why she will be one of the favourites for gold at the Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.

In the 2023-24 luge world cup, German sliders were again dominant with Max Langenhan and Julia Taubitz securing the men’s and women’s overall titles respectively.

Now, with the new season almost upon us, the thrills are once again about to begin. Read on to find out when every world cup for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton takes place during the 2024/25 season.
