The U.S. Figure Skating Championships are headed back to San Jose.
For the third time in 12 years, and 27 years after its iconic 1996 staging, the Silicon Valley metropolis will play host to the country's figure skating national championships, set for Thursday-Sunday (26-29 January) at the SAP Center.
Hometown hero Rudy Galindo won a memorable title in '96, while Michelle Kwan won the first of her historic nine that year.
Teenagers Ilia Malinin and Isabeau Levito are favoured in the singles, while the reigning world champions Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, as well as three-time world medallists Madison Chock and Evan Bates (pictured above), lead the way in pairs and ice dance, respectively.

NBC is set to broadcast the event for American fans, sharing the skating across a variety of its networks. See the full broadcast schedule here.
For American viewers, the rhythm dance and women's and men's short programs can be found on USA, as can the pairs free skate.
NBC will air the women's free skate, free dance and men's free on its main network, with the exhibition gala set to air on NBC on 5 February at 13:00 local.
All of the events will be streamed on NBC's streaming platform, Peacock.
