The final day of boxing at the 2023 Pacific Games saw Australia land another six titles to match the team’s success from a day previously.

The first pugilist from Down Under to taste success in Solomon Islands’ Friendship Hall on Saturday (2 December) was Monique Suraci who beat New Zealand’s Tasmyn Benny by unanimous decision in the women’s 50kg final.

It was a similar story for Tina Rahimi, who defeated Tongan Feofaaki Epenisa to win the women’s 57kg title, while Yusuf Chothia overcame a partisan home crowd to defeat Solomon Islander Clinton Tetekana in the men’s 51kg final - both by unanimous decision.

Shannan Davey outclassed New Zealand’s Wendell Stanley in the men’s 71kg gold medal bout by unanimous decision, and Teremoana Teremoana stopped Samoan Elijah Mercury-Leafa in the second round of the men’s +92kg final to spark jubilant celebrations.

Finally, Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Harry Garside was awarded the men’s 63.5 kg title courtesy of a 3-0 walkover against Fiji’s injured Elia Rokobuli.

These six victories mean that Australian boxers have secured an impressive 12 quota places for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, following yesterday's six victories.

As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes' participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.

There were several other finals in non-Olympic weight categories on Saturday.

Grace Sabou beat Angelyn Kadiu 3-2 in an all-Papua New Guinea women’s 52kg final.

Tahiti's Raphael Dauphin took the men’s 67kg final with a unanimous decision win over Solomon Islands’ Joshua Fafale O’oku, but it wasn’t such good news for his brother Gabriel Dauphin, who was comfortably beaten by Duken Williams of Niue in the men’s 86kg final.

The final result saw another gold for Tahiti as Hereani Temarono defeated Samoa’s Lulu Tuipoloa by unanimous decision in the women’s 81kg final.
