2022 Diamond League Final in Zurich: Olympic champion Tamberi claims high jump crown 

Athletics' 2022 Diamond League finale is set for Zurich with joint Olympic high jump champions Gianmarco Tamberi of Italy and Qatar's Mutaz Barshim set to face off again Wednesday (7 September). This is the 12th event of the Diamond League series with 32 titles up for grabs over two days of competition.

The first day of competition will also see action in the men's and women's shot put, women's pole vault and men's and women's 5,000m.

7:21pm - Day one wraps with Kipkorir golden in 5,000m

Kenya's Nicholas Kipkorir took the day's final gold medal, running in 12:59.05, just ahead of Domnic Lobalu at 12:59.40. Grant Fisher was close behind in third at 13:01.56.

7:11pm - Tamberi grabs the lead, takes gold

Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi goes into the lead in the men's high jump competition, after he cleared 2.34m in his second attempt. The Olympic champion jumped in dramatic fashion, asking the crowd for silence prior to his run.

American JuVaughn Harrison has a final attempt at the height to stay in the competition - and he gets it!

Tamberi ends with the gold, failing at his first attempt at 2.36m before retiring, while Harrison failed at all three tries at the height. Harrison takes silver after losing the tie-break.

6:53pm - Mutaz Barshim out of the men's high jump

World and Olympic champion Mutaz Barshim of Qatar suffered a rare defeat Wednesday, crashing out of the men's high jump competition after only clearing 2.18m. He'll finish sixth overall.

American JuVaughn Harrison continues to lead. He's cleared 2.32m in his first attempt to top the leader board currently.

Only Harrison and Gianmarco Tamberi remain in the competition after Canada's Django Lovett missed at 2.30m and then twice in a row at 2.32m.

6:50pm - Nina Kennedy uses season best to win women's pole vault gold

Australia's Nina Kennedy will add the Diamond League title to a spectacular 2022 season that saw her grab gold at the Commonwealth Games and bronze at the worlds.

She cleared 4.81m in her third attempt, a season's best, to hold off American Sandi Morris, the 2022 world silver medal winner, who couldn't get over the height in three attempts. Slovenia's Tina Sutej finishes third.

6:40pm - Tamberi, Harrison lead high jump at 2.30m

In the men's high jump, American **JuVaughn Harrison **and Gianmarco Tamberi lead after clearing 2.30m in their first attempts. The jump is a season's best for Harrison.

Earlier, Tamberi was safely over 2.27m in his second attempt, while his co-Tokyo gold medallist Mutaz Barshim failed on his first attempt before opting not to try again at the height.

6:35pm - Nina Kennedy, Sandi Morris clear 4.76m

Australia's Nina Kennedy, the Commonwealth Games champion, has cleared 4.76m in her second attempt at the height. American Sandi Morris failed at the height in her first two attempts but was successful on her third try.

6:29pm - Men's high jump heating up

Joint Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Barshim are underway in Zurich. Tamberi, who was married last week and has delayed his honeymoon to participate in this event, has jumped just once so far: a successful effort at 2.21m.

Meanwhile, Barshim cleared 2.18m in his attempt. He missed an attempt at 2.24m before electing to move on to higher clearances.

6:15pm - Sandi Morris separates herself in women's pole vault competition

American Sandi Morris, the 2022 world silver medallist, has separated herself in the women's pole vault final. She was the only woman of the five remaining to clear 4.71m on her first attempt.

Australia's Nina Kennedy gets it on her second attempt, while Slovenia's Tina Sutej, Italy's Roberta Bruni, and Finland's Wilma Murto failed to clear the height in three attempts.

Only Kennedy and Morris remain.

6:05pm - Five remain in the women's pole vault competition

In the women's pole vault, five women have made it safely over the bar at 4.61m. All five (Australia's Nina Kennedy, USA's Sandi Morris, Slovenia's Tina Sutej, Italy's Roberta Bruni, and Finland's Wilma Murto) all cleared the bar in their first attempt, while Greece's Aikaterini Stefanidi and Switzerland's Angelica Moser failed to clear the bar in three straight attempts.

Stefanidi is the 2016 Olympic champion in the event.

6:01pm - Joe Kovacs can't be caught!

Joe Kovacs' 23.23m, the second best shot put throw all-time, wins him the gold medal in Zurich. Two-time Olympic champion Ryan Crouser finished in second at 22.74m, giving the USA a 1-2 finish in the event. New Zealand's Tom Walsh threw 21.90m for bronze.

5:56pm - Chase Ealey adds Diamond League final title to stellar 2022 season

Team USA's Chase Ealey will end her season with another big victory, taking the women's shot put gold medal in Zurich. Earlier this season, she won the title at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and finished with silver at the indoor worlds in Belgrade.

Wednesday, Ealey threw 20.19m in her third attempt to finish at the top of the standings. Canada's Sarah Mitton was second (19.56m), and Portugal's Auriol Dongmo (19.46m) was third.

5:50pm - Kenya's Beatrice Chebet takes the women's 5,000m crown

Teammates Beatrice Chebet and Margaret Kipkemboi of Kenya raced each other down to the last metre in the women's 5,000m final with Chebet narrowly taking the win. Chebet won the silver medal in July at the worlds.

Chebet clocked a 14:31.03, just out kicking Kipkemboi who finished at 14:31.52.

Ethopia's **Gudaf Tsegay, **the 2022 world champion, was third at 14:32.11 while teammate Ejgayehu Taye, who owns the world lead time, finished fourth.

5:40pm - Joe Kovacs throws massive 23.23 in men's shot

American Joe Kovacs is out to the early lead in the men's shot put competition. His 23.23m throw in the second round is the second furthest throw all time. The throw is a Diamond League record, meeting record, world lead and personal best for Kovacs.

Two-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Ryan Crouser, also of the United States, is currently second at 22.74.
