The NBA is set to honour 13 legendary members of the basketball community this Saturday and Sunday (12-13 October), including Olympic medallists Vince Carter, Walter Davis, Michele Timms, and Jerry West.

The other members of the 2024 class are Chauncey Billups, Michael Cooper, Bo Ryan, Charles Smith, Seimone Augustus, Dick Barnett, Harley Redin, Doug Collins, and Herb Simon.

“Without a shadow of doubt, the accomplishments of the 2024 class stand as a testament to unparalleled excellence,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, according to NBA.com. “From showcasing unrivalled prowess on the courts and sidelines, spanning the high school, collegiate, and professional ranks, to steering the course of basketball across an entire continent and orchestrating a pair of dynasties, we are honoured to pay tribute to these remarkable individuals alongside our esteemed award recipients.”

Carter, an eight-time All-Star in 22 NBA seasons, was a member of the U.S. team that won gold at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, while Davis struck gold at the 1976 Games in Montreal.

West, who has become one of the sport’s most prominent executives, is an Olympic champion, having helped Team USA to gold at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

An Australian standout, Timms owns two Olympic medals: bronze from Atlanta 1996 and silver from Sydney 2000.

The Hall of Fame activities are being held in Springfield, Massachusetts, the so-called birthplace of basketball, as well as the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
