LeBron James and his son, Bronny James featured on the NBA court together in pre-season, becoming the first father and son to play alongside each other.
The father-son basketball duo shared the court during the Los Angeles Lakers’ pre-season defeat at the Phoenix Suns on Sunday (6 October), when James Jr. came on during the second quarter.
They were beaten 118-114 in the second pre-season game ahead of the regular season, where the Lakers will chase a record-equalling 18th NBA championship.
After the match, James Sr. summed up his emotions on X (formerly Twitter) by simply saying, “WOW THAT WAS SURREAL!!”.
LeBron was determined to play alongside his son and has now achieved that - albeit during pre-season – while Bronny marked his 20th birthday with a first appearance in a Lakers jersey.
James Sr. returns to the NBA court after winning his third Olympic basketball gold with Team USA at Paris 2024, approaching his 40th birthday at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, his son Bronny was drafted to the Lakers back in June, selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
The Lakers’ regular season gets underway on 22 October, as they welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Crypto.com Arena.
