He reached as high as three in the world junior rankings and won the boys' title at the 2015 French Open. He also made the finals of the doubles in Paris. Later that year, he finished his junior career by reaching the singles final at the US Open.

Tommy Paul: maiden trophies and top 30 breakthrough

Having taken time to make an impact on the full tour, Paul claimed his first ATP title at the 2021 Stockholm Open. He beat fifth seed Taylor Fritz and two-time Olympic champion Andy Murray in the early rounds before defeating Denis Shapovalov in the final.

His ascent continued with qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021, but he suffered a first-round exit to ROC's 11th seed Aslan Karatsev.

The American star reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2022 to break into the top 30 of the rankings for the first time. That same year, he recorded one of the biggest wins of his career by defeating Rafael Nadal in the round of 32 at the Rolex Paris Masters on his way to a quarter-final finish. In February 2024, he won his second ATP title by triumphing on home soil at the Dallas Open.
