Kimia ALIZADEH

Born in Karaj, Iran, Kimia has had an impressive and long list of sports results in taekwondo. She won gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games Nanjing 2014, as well as bronze and silver medals at the World Taekwondo Championships in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Representing Iran, she won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games Rio 2016 in the -57kg category at the age of 18.

Becoming a refugee in 2020, Kimia started training as a refugee athlete with the support of the Refugee Athlete Scholarship and participated in Tokyo 2020 as a member of the Refugee Olympic Team.

A positive development for Kimia came in April 2024 when she was granted Bulgarian citizenship. With the stability and protection this provided, she plans to represent Bulgaria at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
