Biography

Hubertus, Prince von Hohenlohe-Langenburg, son of Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Princess Ira of Fürstenberg, was born in Mexico but had dual Austrian and Liechtensteiner citizenship. He could not qualify for the Austrian national team, but as his father owned a consular title from Mexico, he founded the Mexican Skiing Association, became its President and was thus able to ski for Mexico, competing as Hubertus von Fürstenberg in 1984 and Hubertus von Hohenlohe since 1988. Hubertus von Fürstenberg-von Hohenlohe-Langenburg has dabbled in multiple careers, including photography, and as a pop singer under the name Andy Himalaya and Royal Disaster.

He learned skiing in the Sierra Nevadas in the United States and in Austria. Von Hohenlohe started his music career in the 1980s, putting out eight records under the aliases Andy Himalaya and Royal Disaster. He became interested in music after meeting Andy Warhol at Studio 54 in New York. His photography career started after he shot the cover pictures for several of his albums. He later worked for Red Bull and European chocolatier Milka, shooting advertising photos for them, and he has done photography for ski calendars.

His brother Prince Christoph von Hohenlohe-Langenburg died under mysterious circumstances in 2006, after being imprisoned at the Klongprem Central Prison in Bangkok, Thailand, allegedly for altering a visa. Maximilian VII, Prince von Hohenlohe-Langenburg is his uncle and he has distant relationships to the Grimaldi family of Monaco.
