Biography

By the end of her career Heidi Biebl often served as co-commentator at ski races on German TV channels. In 1960 she had won the gold medal in the downhill as the youngest female ski gold medalist of all-time (thru 2013), placing fourth four years later at Innsbruck. She also started in the slalom and the giant slalom, placing fourth in 1964 slalom as her next best result. Biebl also won 30 World Cup races and 15 German titles in her career. In 1966 she retired due to differences with the German Skiing Association (DSV) and became a skiing coach, running her own skiing school. Biebl also owned a hotel in her hometown of Oberstaufen.
