Biografia

Kyrie Irving was born in Melbourne in March 1992. His father, Drederick Irving, had a successful basketball career at Boston University but moved to Australia to play professionally having failed to make it to the NBA.

The family moved back to the United States in his youth with Irving playing basketball at Montclair Kimberley Academy in New Jersey. He then transferred to St. Patrick High School, where his skills on the court made him one of the top basketball prospects in the country.

After playing one season of college basketball at Duke University, Irving declared for the NBA draft in 2011 at 19 and was picked first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He quickly established himself as one of the premier point guards in the league. He was named 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year and followed that up with eight NBA All-Star selections and an NBA All-Star MVP award.

Teaming up with Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, the pair helped the franchise win their first-ever NBA Championship in 2016. After his successful stint with the Cavaliers, he played for the Boston Celtics before joining the Brooklyn Nets. In 2023, he joined the Dallas Mavericks.
