Yazan Al Bawwab is a Palestinian Olympic swimmer who competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In addition to his Canadian Aero/Mechanical Engineering degree, he is pursuing a master's degree in international sports management at the University of London, demonstrating his commitment to both his academic and athletic pursuits. As an IOC Young Leader and FISU Ambassador, Al Bawwab will use his platform to address the high drowning rate in parts of Palestine. He believes that swimming education and safety awareness can make a significant impact in reducing the number of drowning incidents in the region. Looking to the future, Al Bawwab aims to take up sports roles and use his knowledge to give back to his community.

SwimHope Palestine

SwimHope Palestine' is a comprehensive and targeted initiative designed to empower underprivileged and refugee communities in Palestine by providing access to essential swimming education and life-saving water skills. Through the establishment of temporary swimming pools and the development of a tailored swimming curriculum, SwimHope Palestine will focus on teaching children aged 6 essential swimming and life-saving skills.
