At Birmingham 2022, she led India’s triathlon debut at the Commonwealth Games, and in May 2019 became the first Indian to compete at the Triathlon World Cup. Currently based in London, she is training for India’s first Olympic appearance in triathlon. Beyond sport, Pragnya is a sought-after public speaker, having delivered several TEDx talks advocating for active lifestyles, menstrual health awareness, and the empowerment of young girls through education and improved livelihoods.
Ek Beti Ek Cycle provides refurbished bicycles to rural high school girls in India, helping them access education and opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach. The project collects unused bicycles from urban schools, refurbishes them, and distributes them through ceremonies where donors personally hand them over to the girls. Alongside distribution, workshops train girls in safe cycling practices on public roads.
Since its pilot in late 2023, the project has distributed 500 bicycles and built a growing network of volunteers, partner schools and beneficiaries. It has gained recognition at international forums, including a mention in a keynote at COP29, and nominations for awards by the BBC and Sports Positive. Teachers report that girls who received bicycles not only have improved stamina, but also greater confidence in the classroom. The initiative continues to expand, strengthening education access and promoting gender equality across Gujarat and beyond.
