IOC YOUNG LEADER BIO:

An IOC Young Leader from 2021 to 2024, Pauline Msungu is a football player in the Kenyan Women’s Premier League and a youth ambassador for the Bundesliga Youth Ambassadors project in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

Passionate about football and gender equality, Pauline believes in the power of sport to drive positive social impact. She envisions a world where human rights are respected and protected regardless of age, gender or sexual orientation.

PROJECT: Beyond Sport Kenya

During her time as a Young Leader, Pauline created Beyond Sport Kenya, a youth-led initiative in Trans-Nzoia County that promoted gender equality in and through football. The project provided safe spaces for young people aged 13-19 to learn, play and grow, while tackling barriers related to gender and inclusion.

Through weekly football sessions, gender-focused drills, tournaments, mentorship activities and community forums, Beyond Sport Kenya built awareness and strengthened life skills. By combining sport with education and outreach, the project fostered more inclusive communities where all young people had the opportunity to thrive.
