Joseph Owino
Joseph Owino is a Para-Taekwondo athlete and a member of the Kenya National Para-Taekwondo Team. He holds a bronze medal from the 5th African Para-taekwondo Championships. He’s an astute student and youth leader championing for the interests of students and youth with disabilities in diverse avenues in Kenya. He’s a passionate champion of disability inclusion through a campaign dubbed the #InclusionAgenda through the educational sector, talent and skill development avenues through sports, music and art and in the leadership and governance tracks. He’s a scholar with socio-economic development interests who is keen to get valuable experience to help him enhance the empowerment and further development of persons with disabilities through global policy interventions.
The project will aim to establish and set up an annual Inter-University Para-Sports Competitions and Talent Search and development programmes targeting students with disabilities within the universities and colleges in Kenya. This is geared towards identifying and building talents of students with disabilities within the Kenyan higher education setting in order to magnify the place of sports for learners with disabilities as an element of enhancing inclusive education provision within our vast educational systems.
