Tournament favourite Australia defeat Pakistan in the preliminary round of men's hockey. Pakistan score first in the 16th minute, but Australia equalise four minutes later. In the second half, Australia go one up and then get the insurance marker in the 59th minute to win 3-1. The victory puts them at the top of the table with the Netherlands on nine points.
