Tony Estanguet is the only French athlete to have won three gold medals at three different Olympic Games: in Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and London in 2012. He is also a three-time world champion and a three-time European champion in canoe slalom. Estanguet was the French flag bearer at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008. He became a Member of the International Olympic Committee in 2013.
In 2015, he began serving as Co-Chair, along with Bernard Lapasset, of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bidding Committee, and became President of the Organising Committee after Paris was awarded the 2024 Games in Lima in 2017.
Estanguet holds a master’s degree from the ESSEC Business School.
