Jacqueline Barrett joined the IOC in 1983 and has been involved in Summer and Winter Olympic Games operations in various capacities since Los Angeles 1984.
With over 40 years’ experience in the Olympic Movement, her roles have included responsibility for relations with International Federations and National Olympic Committees, press and media operations, and the IOC Athletes’ Commission.
She has led the Olympic host election process since 1992, and was instrumental in the historic simultaneous election of Paris 2024 and LA28. Under Olympic Agenda 2020, she played a key role in reshaping the IOC’s approach to electing Olympic hosts. She is responsible for the election process for the Olympic Winter Games, Games of the Olympiad and Youth Olympic Games (Summer and Winter), and supports the work of the Future Host Commissions.
