On the afternoon of 30 January, the IOC Members gathered for the Extraordinary IOC Session, which was the 143rd IOC Session. The proceedings were public and livestreamed, as per usual, on IOC Media YouTube.

The 143rd IOC Session voted on the host of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2028, following a decision by the IOC Executive Board on 3 December 2024 to propose Dolomiti Valtellina for election. The IOC had opened a Targeted Dialogue with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) and its partners, with Dolomiti Valtellina as Preferred Host, in July 2024.
