Biographie

While attending Georgia Tech, Ed Hamm won the NCAA in 1927 and 1928 and then took the 1928 AAU long jump with a world record of 25-11⅛ (7.90). At the Olympics, Hamm scored a comfortable win over Silvio Cator of Haiti with a new Olympic record of 25-4¼ (7.73), but a mere nine days later, Cator claimed the world record with the first jump ever over 26 feet – 26-0¼ (7.93).
