Vichy

Yves Carrey will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:

The “Vichy Rando” hiking association’s most regular hikers include Yves, its oldest member who, at the age of 91 years old, hikes at least twice a week, including difficult circuits of 25 kilometres or more. Yves has been hiking since 1945. He joined the MJC walking club in Vichy at a young age and was even its chairman for many years. In 1983, he created the “Randonnée vagabonde” hiking club, which is still active in Vichy, then joined “Vichy Rando” shortly after it was founded.

He walks 1,800 kilometres per year including 1,200 kilometres with the club. Yves is a fine example of what walking can provide in terms of health and well-being. He tells anyone that will listen that, “hiking keeps you from getting sick, clears your head, gives you a social life, improves your sleep and allows you to exercise a passion for photography”.
