Sandra Lefumat

Sandra Lefumat will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:

At 45, Sandra has been competing in sports since she was 6, starting with artistic gymnastics and badminton, and for the past 12 years, trail running, ultra-trail and orienteering. Fuelled by a drive to push her limits and a competitive spirit, Sandra loves the feeling of giving it her all. Before becoming a mother, Sandra poured her heart into volunteer work, especially as a gymnastics coach and judge. 

On the career front, she climbed the social ladder with unwavering resolve. From a working-class background, she rose to become a PE teacher and later part of a school administration team. As the head of a middle school with 500 students, she instils in her pupils the values of hard work and persistence. Amid a pause in her athletic pursuits for health reasons, carrying the Olympic torch will be a childhood dream come true and a powerful symbol of the new life that awaits her.
