Robert Rouland

Robert Rouland will carry the Olympic torch. This is his story:

At the age of 91 and a half, Robert still walks 8 to 10 kilometres every week! A hiker for over 70 years, he founded the organisation Les Randonneurs Hyérois over 40 years ago in Hyères, Var, beating the drum for Nordic from day one. He is always beaming, curious about life, open to people and unafraid to venture out of his comfort zone, even at his age. He completed the entire Way of St James, setting out to discover not only himself but also, and especially, others undertaking this renowned pilgrimage.

Robert has also conquered numerous high peaks in the Alps (above Chamonix) and the Pyrenees (Canigou, Carlit, etc.). Possessing the physique of an athlete, Robert is bubbling with challenges and aspirations. Carrying the Olympic torch is an incredible honour and a wonderful opportunity. To him, it signifies a bond among athletes worldwide, a symbol filled with hope.
