Reza Rahmani Fard

Reza Rahmani Fard will carry the Olympic torch. This is his story:

Reza believes in the transformative power of sport to unite communities and foster mutual understanding. When he arrived in France from Iran in 1986, sport became his gateway to a new culture and a new language. This experience ignited in him a lifelong passion for using sport as a tool for social integration and community building.

One of his most rewarding experiences was volunteering at table tennis clubs. He led his squad to snatch the top spot in regional showdowns. This experience taught him the value of teamwork and commitment and the joy of collective success. However, his most significant contribution was definitely the creation of a sports group for parents in his community.

Over the past three years, he has organised weekly events for mountain biking, road cycling and running. His group now boasts 50 members, fostering a sense of camaraderie and friendship among the diverse community.
