Nicole Filippi

Nicole Filippi will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:

Nicole set up a gymnastics and athletics club back in the 1970s. As a PE teacher, she reached out to young people from underprivileged neighbourhoods and opened doors to opportunities they never could have imagined. Nicole motivated them to train hard to earn a spot in the French championships. This meant a chance to travel beyond Corsica, even enjoying a fun-filled day at a famous amusement park.

For over three decades, Nicole has spent a fortnight every year wrapping gifts at the local supermarket, raising the funds needed to make these magical moments come true for the children in the club. Even at 81, Nicole remains a central figure. She continues to coach in training sessions and travels with the club, embodying the very spirit and strength that defines this athletics club.
