The European Collectivity of Alsace

Nicolas Linder will carry the Olympic torch. This is his story:

A true globetrotter undeterred by disabilities, Nicolas defies the boundaries set by his conditions daily. Spina bifida and a severe visual impairment have done little to dampen his spirit. Nicolas transforms his challenges into opportunities for inspiration and exploration. His audacity shines through in his remarkable undertaking, a winter expedition across Siberia, bringing together blind, deaf and able-bodied people.

This extraordinary journey was documented in the film Défi Baïkal, aired during the Téléthon and showcased at prestigious festivals including the Grand Bivouac in Albertville. Produced by the renowned journalist Olivier Weber, the award-winning film spotlights Nicolas and his team's determination and resilience. Nicolas refuses to be bound by physical and medical adversities. Starting with a 2 km walking capacity due to malformations, he

achieved the remarkable feat of covering 79 km in 24 hours —a testament to his unwavering determination and inner strength. Nicolas does not just break records. He is constantly on the lookout for new frontiers. He has trekked 250 km across Alsace from north to south, cycled a tandem from Strasbourg to Toulouse, and regularly embarks on hikes guided by a voice GPS. His indefatigable dedication to sport and adventure inspires both disabled and able-bodied individuals alike. Beyond his personal accomplishments, Nicolas personifies a philosophy of living life to the fullest through passion and pushing the limits.
