Nathan Cochin will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:
Nathan is convinced of the importance of sport in his life and in the lives of others. As a handball player at national level since the age of 18, he attributes part of his success to his drive to excel himself, having been top scorer in the French under-18 Championship at the age of just 17 years old. This passion was passed on to him from an early age by his family as well as his coaches and he now strives to share it and pass it on to others.
A keen handball player, for the last 2 years Nathan has also been coaching the men's and women's teams at the university he attends. He believes he should set an example for the younger generation, both on and off the pitch. Through sport, Nathan has learned the value of inclusion, which he puts into practice by supporting initiatives such as introductory handball sessions for people with multiple sclerosis, in collaboration with his club and the Grenoble MS association. He also organised awareness-raising of para-sport, during a competition bringing together 800 students.
For Nathan, being an Olympic Torchbearer is an honour and an important symbolic moment, enabling him to perpetuate a legacy and fulfil a childhood dream, while contributing to the success of the French athletes who will proudly represent the colours of France at the Paris 2024 Games.
