Paris, Day 2
Moussa Magassa will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:
Carrying the Olympic Torch is much more than a dream come true for Moussa; it is the culmination of an inspiring and extraordinary journey. Originally from the Barbès neighbourhood, he has witnessed the challenges faced by so many young people from modest backgrounds. However, thanks to meritocracy and unwavering determination, he has overcome these obstacles and reached new heights. Moussa, who is entirely self-taught, took up the challenge of becoming French university Kick Boxing champion at “La Sorbonne”.
His passion for the sport has driven him to push back his limits and prove that anything is possible. As a result, he has gained in confidence and developed a healthy competitive spirit, always eager to give his best. That said, his story is not limited to sport. Moussa remains involved in his neighbourhood, using his skills to bring together his childhood friends and organise the ‘Can 18’ football competition.
His burning desire to make a difference in the field of diversity and inclusion led him to become Diversity and Inclusion Project Manager at BNP Paribas, a corporate partner of the Paris 2024 Games, with whom he was actively involved in creating an inclusive working environment for all. It would be a privilege for him to be able to contribute, if only for a moment, to the Olympic spirit and the international unity it represents. Moussa hopes that his determination to pursue excellence, despite the challenges he faces, will inspire future generations to believe in themselves and to go beyond boundaries that sometimes seem insurmountable.
