Michel Piquer will carry the Olympic torch. This is his story:

Michel may just be the spark the Games need, thanks to a lifelong sporting passion that has never dimmed. This fervour has driven him into community life since 1986. Fuelled by a love for running, he and a few friends joined forces to set up UAT, now known as TPA. He serves as its Honorary President and as the President of the Road Running Commission, which has enabled him to become a Judge Referee with the French Athletics Federation.

He is also an avid organiser of races such as Lourdes Tarbes, La Méridienne and La Tarb'elles. His zeal has also seen him cross the finish line of 68 marathons and more than 200 races in general. "Passion is what makes life worth living", he says. Carrying the Olympic torch will be a proud testament to his lifelong devotion and commitment to the world of sports.
