Moselle

Marie-José Brunet will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:

From an early age, Marie-José has had a passion for sport, exploring various sports such as tennis, football and athletics before devoting herself to judo, where she brilliantly represented France in international competitions. Her commitment to sport naturally led her to pursue a career in this field, joining the French Ministry of Sport’s ranks of sports instructors.

As a CTR Lorraine coach for top-level sporting performance, an instructor for sports coaches and a development agent in Moselle, she has had the opportunity to share her passion and expertise in a variety of fields, including promoting women's sport, professionalising coaching, educational sport and sport for health. At the same time as her professional career, Marie-José has been involved as a volunteer in a number of Moselle sports associations since the age of 16, helping to train sportspersons and run clubs.

Today, as the chairwoman of Metz Gym, the biggest gymnastics club in France with its 1,800 members, she continues her commitment by mobilising 60 volunteers and 15 paid staff to promote sport and its benefits, giving everyone the chance to discover sport from an early age, whatever their level of motivation.
