Marie Boursinhac will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:
Marie has always poured her heart and soul into the sporting scene, driven by three great forces. The first is the essence of sport. She stepped up as a rugby coach in her local club at the tender age of 15 and has worked hard to develop women's rugby in several clubs for over a decade. She also established a university team and managed women's teams while promoting women's sports in local leisure centres.
At the same time, Marie has invested a great deal of energy into local communities. She set up the charity Bien-être & Sport, which runs adapted sporting sessions for people with chronic diseases. She also founded the Agenais Multi-Sports School for children 3 to 11, fostering the inclusion of autistic children.
As a sports educator, she takes her expertise to schools across the region, managing sports activities and leading sessions on Olympism. She is also shaping the future of the field by training the sports educators of tomorrow at a vocational training centre for sports professions. Last but not least, Marie embodies the collective energy and volunteers with the charity Rugby sans différence, which fights for the inclusion of disabled people. Every year, she reaches out to hundreds of children and adults, inspiring them to engage in sports, promoting health through sport and imparting the enduring values of both sport and the Olympic movement.
