Gers
Loetitia Moussard-Loubens will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:
Loetitia, a top-flight basketball player, is a key figure in the saga of Mirande, boasting three French championship titles and a presence on the European stage. Her dominant performances on the key have earned her recognition and a central role in the French national team, for which she has appeared 198 times and conquered gold in the 2001 EuroBasket Women, silver in 1993 and 1999, and two world championship participations in 1994 and 2002.
Loetitia is also among the athletes from the Gers department who have entered the Olympic Games, with fifth place in the Sydney 2000 Olympics as her stand-out achievement. She has continually lent her skills and experience to both national and local basketball. Furthermore, she is a regular presence with the French youth teams at international competitions. She is also deeply involved in the local community network, sharing her knowledge and passing on her expertise.
She is a proud mother within a sporting family: her daughter, also a basketball player, has recently been crowned European champion, while her son is moving up the ranks at the Stade Toulousain rugby club. Her personal traits of sharing and solidarity within a team, which are fundamental to team sports, strengthen her resolve to carry the values of the Olympic torch throughout Gers.
