Julien Costa will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:
Julien discovered his passion for judo at the age of 4 years old when he was introduced to the sport, from which he has drawn fundamental values such as respect, politeness and self-control. At junior high school, he had the opportunity to take part in his favourite team sport, handball, which strengthened his spirit of surpassing himself and his tenacity. In 2013, Julien became actively involved in his club as a coach and referee for the youngsters. For three years, he enthusiastically coached the women's Under-17 team, while continuing his studies to obtain his regional coaching diploma, in order to hone his team management skills.
His quest for diversification then led him to qualify as a para-fit coach, enabling him to work with people with disabilities. During his technological degree studies, Julien brilliantly organised a bike polo tournament, mobilising sponsors and teams, and generously donated the funds raised to a charity. At the age of 25, thirsty for adventure, he chose to live an enriching experience in the United States as an au pair with an Indian-American family. There, he shared his passion for handball with the children, while opening up to their interest in American sports. On returning to France, in 2022, Julien seized the opportunity to join the LVMH group, a creative partner of the 2024 Paris Games. At this prestigious company, he has the chance to take part in a range of sporting disciplines including badminton, bodybuilding and basketball.
