Joseph Mbongo Mbonde

Joseph Mbongo Mbonde will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:

After occupying the position of chairman of para-sports for the Amiens urban authorities for 12 years, Joseph recently decided to step down from his duties. Joseph is not only a sports enthusiast, but also an example of determination and inspiration. At the age of 19 years old, following a spinal cord infarction, he lost the use of his feet, which changed the course of his life. In spite of this ordeal, he has never lost his indomitable will.

For many years, it seemed impossible for him to take part in sporting activities, even though he was a keen sports fan in his youth. However, when Joseph was able to take up sport again thanks to hand-biking, it was a revelation, marking the start of a new life for him.
