Jean-Marie Valentin will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:
Jean-Marie embodies civic commitment and solidarity at various levels, locally, nationally and internationally. He played a key role in the launch and active maintenance of the twinning with a German town, which is still going strong after 30 years. He was also behind the creation of a medical centre for his town, for which he was awarded a medal of merit. His commitment is also evident in the field of disability, through organising the annual local accessibility days in Bondoufle and mobilising the educational and voluntary sectors in support of disabled people.
Jean-Marie has also been recognised for his work on accessibility, receiving the AMIF's Innovation Trophy for Accessibility in 2009. In addition to his work in the field of disability, he has also contributed to improving health by helping to create a medical centre through seeking out and assisting with the integration of doctors. Always driven by a desire to help others, Jean-Marie focuses on multicultural teamwork and sees the Olympic Games as an opportunity to strengthen cultural and social links, as well as energising young people and communities.
