Jean Cheminade

Jean Cheminade will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:

Since his childhood, sport has always been an essential component of Jean’s life. He was born with a disability and cycling has become more than just a simple leisure pursuit for him: it has offered him the possibility to strengthen his legs, enabling him to swap his crutches for trekking poles during excursions in the Pyrenees and the Alps. After having participated in the para-cycling championships for several years, Jean switched his focus to another passion of his: climbing.

This discipline not only allowed him to be part of the FFME French para-climbing team for three years, but it allowed him to meet his partner. For several years now, he has been sharing his passion with the Sud Oise Escalade climbing club, where he supervises a group of teenagers every Friday. This experience enables him to pass on his love of climbing while encouraging young people to push back their own limits, whatever they may be.
