Emilie Frantz

Emilie Frantz will carry the Olympic Torch. Here’s her story:

Émilie is fighting a daily battle to improve the living conditions of her 7-year-old son Gabriel, who suffers from a rare, neurodegenerative genetic disease. Aiming to raise awareness of the disease and collect funds to support her son and other families facing the same situation, she founded the “Gabriel Juste Exceptionnel” association.

The association won the 2022 participatory budget project for the town of Bain-de-Bretagne, and was rewarded with a new inclusive playground – one of Brittany’s first – inaugurated on 25 March 2023. The playground provides a space where all children, disabled and non-disabled alike, can meet and play together. It features equipment specially designed to be accessible to children in wheelchairs, such as adapted trampolines and roundabouts, as well as different types of swings. Through her association, Émilie embodies both the energy of sport – particularly inclusive sport – and the power of people.
