Val-d'Oise
Delphine Botereau will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:
Delphine was a ballet dance teacher already at the age of 18 years, but when she was 20 years old, she was diagnosed with a rare disease which brought her young career to an abrupt halt. In spite of her doctors advising her not to have children, she defied these recommendations and determinedly brought up her daughter and son alone. Delphine has bravely guided her children towards self-fulfilment.
Today, her daughter is pursuing her artistic passions while her son, aged just 21 years, has become a tennis as well as padel instructor, and even trains the ball boys and girls for the Roland Garros French tennis open. In spite of her challenges and her disability, which is invisible to the world, Delphine radiates positivity and finds the strength to support those in need. Her determination, selflessness and ability to see something positive in every situation make her an inspiration to all those who know her. Becoming an Olympic Torchbearer is a tribute to her zest for life and contagious energy.
