Coline Lemaitre will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:
Coline is the perfect embodiment of her region’s energy, of the collective spirit and of sport. As well as pursuing top-level studies as a young doctoral researcher at La Sorbonne University, she excels as an accomplished sportswoman. Her achievements include runner-up in the French university championships and French team champion in compound archery. Yet her commitment is not just limited to sport; she is also committed to promoting sport. During her gap year, Coline did a civic service project with a club promoting women's sport.
At the Sorbonne, she helped set up an association to promote Olympic and Paralympic sports, in particular by organising Olympic week, which included introductory activities to wheelchair and disability sports. Professionally, Coline, who conducts archaeological research, has acquired an international dimension through her work. In this way, she contributes to the reputation of her university, as demonstrated by her scholarship from the prestigious Smithsonian Institution in Washington. But what particularly motivates Coline in her studies is meeting the native peoples of Alaska, her current field of study. In addition to her research, she helps local communities. Her commitment to society does not stop there. Coline is also a first aider with the civil protection agency, with whom she helps people in difficulty and is on call for sporting and cultural events. Her dedication will continue throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
