Clara Bastos will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:

Clara’s love for sport was passed down to her by her father, her coaches and the heavily involved officials at her athletics club, where she took part in pole vaulting, the 100 metres hurdles and cross-country running. Since the age of 6 years old, her commitment and perseverance in sport have never wavered. Clara devotes a considerable amount of her time to her passion for sport, actively taking part and volunteering in many competitions.

Her constant dedication and will to promote the values of sport and the Olympics in the field are exemplary. However, Clara does not limit her sense of involvement to athletics. As a primary schoolteacher, every day she embodies fundamental values such as passing on knowledge, fairness, solidarity and tenacity. Her educational role is crucial in guiding the younger generations and instilling in them the importance of team spirit as well as the essential values of sport. Her commitment as a departmental judge in athletics since the age of sixteen years old demonstrates her determination to promote fair and equitable competition.
