Christine Janin

Christine Janin will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:

Christine has left her mark on the history of French mountaineering by climbing the highest peaks. In 1990, she became the first Frenchwoman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, then achieved the feat of “the tour of the top of the world”, climbing the highest peak on each of the seven continents. In 1997, she also became the first woman to reach the North Pole.

Alongside her sporting exploits, Christine founded the charity “À chacun son Everest” (climb your own Everest), dedicated to supporting children with cancer or leukaemia, and women in remission from breast cancer, helping them to “heal better”.
