Bruno Delavenne will carry the Olympic Torch. This is his story:
From an early age, Bruno distinguished himself as a sportsman, notably in hockey. With his club Amiens SC, he won many French championship titles, both indoors as well as on grass, and took part in several European club cups. His international career was just as impressive, with almost 200 selections for the French team between 1976 and 1989.
He was a pillar of the squad, taking part in several major competitions such as European Cups, World Cups and intercontinental competitions. Bruno also enjoyed the honour of captaining the team for more than 6 years. In tandem with his playing career, Bruno also distinguished himself as a hockey coach and club official. He started out at the age of 16 and held a variety of positions, both at club level and with the French national team.
He was even National Technical Director for the French Federation of Hockey from 1995 to 2001. Today, Bruno continues to contribute to developing hockey by running and coordinating the Masters France de Hockey association, which, under the aegis of the FFH, boasts 13 teams throughout France (5 women’s teams and 8 men’s teams) and has actively participated in international competitions for more than the last ten years.
