Axelle Albot will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:
For Axelle, the Olympic Torch Relay represents the ultimate symbol of a jointly constructed event that unites people from all over the world. Becoming a Torchbearer means contributing to this universal union, while embodying the Olympic and Paralympic values such as excellence, respect and fair play, while drawing on the diversity of each individual. The 2024 Paris Games are of particular importance to her because of their pioneering climatic ambitions.
Axelle strongly supports the sobriety the games will be advocating, which includes the redevelopment of existing sports venues and promotion of clean transport modes, particularly hydrogen-powered ones, as crucial elements for the future of the Games and for the preservation of their values of peace and unity. Committed to this cause, Axelle jointly organised the participation of the ‘La Fresque du Climat’ association at COP 26 in Glasgow.
This involvement enabled her to contribute to the organisation of a conference promoting education on climate issues at the COP, as well as running a stand popularising science. For her, education on climate issues is a fundamental subject which, like the Games, must bring together people, associations and leaders from all over the world around a shared vision. She is convinced that we must exploit our diversity to strive for excellence in jointly constructing our shared future.
