Founded in 1920, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) aims to promote, organise and develop tennis and its associated disciplines: Para tennis, beach tennis, padel and court tennis. Presided by Gilles Moretton, it has 1,100,450 members, making it the leading individual sport in France. Tennis and wheelchair tennis are the two disciplines on the Olympic Programme.
The Torch Relay, symbolising the fundamental principles of sport, passion and unity, has a special significance for the French Tennis Federation. It is a unique opportunity to showcase the Olympic and Paralympic Games across the country, to highlight the FFT's other disciplines and to pay tribute to our athletes.
Following the enthusiasm generated by the award of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to Paris in September 2017, France is about to experience a new high point: the Olympic Torch Relay. The Olympic Flame will be criss-crossing our country, stopping off here and there. As far as we are concerned, we will have the privilege of stopping off at La Baule and Roland-Garros. Let's work passionately to ensure that our Federation and our clubs are part of this global celebration.
Team Relay in Paris, July 15.
An iconic venue for tennis in France with an international reputation, the Roland-Garros Stadium is the venue for two major competitions: the French Open and the Paris Major Premier Padel. It will also host three disciplines at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
The Relay will start in front of the legendary Roland-Garros Stadium entrance. Captain François Jauffret, accompanied by 23 other Torchbearers, will set off on a journey through the Stadium, going past iconic landmarks. In the course of this team epic, various disciplines united under the banner of the FFT will be highlighted.
François Jauffret, record holder for Davis Cup selections and semi-finalist at Roland Garros, will illustrate his exceptional sporting commitment.
The Olympic Games represent for me the very essence of sport, friendship and fraternity.
For the first time in the history of the Games, each day of the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, relay teams of 24 people, made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches, etc. will be organized to spread the energy of sport and teamwork throughout the country.
