The French Surfing Federation (FFSurf) was founded in Biarritz in 1964 to organise, develop and regulate surf-riding. It works on a daily basis to promote freedom of practice, environmental protection and access to surfing for all. Supported by its regional committees and leagues, its clubs and its accredited schools, it has been ensuring the long-term future of high-quality French surfing for almost 60 years.

Jacques Lajuncomme is the current President of the French Surfing Federation. The Federation has 80,000 members, with 15,000 federal licences and 65,000 leisure licences. A total of 180 surf clubs and 150 surf and stand-up paddle schools are affiliated to the FFSurf.

The French teams are among the world's top five in all disciplines. France has been crowned world champion in shortboard (2017), longboard (2013, 2019 and 2023), bodyboard (2014), stand-up paddle (2019, 2021 and 2023) and Para surf (2023).

The French Surfing Federation wants to promote the development of all practices, such as standup paddle and Para surf, which have been elite sports since 2022, and socially responsible causes such as inclusive surfing for all, by working with the national Handi Surf associations, Surf Santé and Surf Insertion. It also works to protect the environment, combat discrimination and violence in sport and promote gender equality.

The Olympic Torch Relay symbolizes the spirit of peace, unity and fraternity between the participating nations. Welcoming the Flame for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the Games in France, the Games of France, in our surfing towns, above and beyond the celebration and the gathering of all around the Olympic Ideal, is an immense source of pride for the French Surfing Federation. The Torchbearers will be the ambassadors of the federal surfing family, its clubs, decentralized bodies and approved structures, and will bear witness to their commitment to the strong values of Olympism.

For the first time in the history of the Games, each day of the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, relay teams of 24 people, made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches, etc. will be organized to spread the energy of sport and teamwork throughout the country.
