Founded on 13 November 1920, the French Hockey Federation (FFH) promotes hockey throughout the country, with almost 12,000 members and 132 clubs. Working to make hockey, an Olympic discipline since 1908, a benchmark team sport, the FFH celebrates the Olympic Torch Relay as a symbol of unity, diversity, and shared passion.
The Olympic Torch Relay, an iconic event of the Olympic Games, strengthens the links between athletes, supporters, and the Olympic values such as fair play and mutual respect. The Olympic Torch Relay provides the FFH with a valuable opportunity to shine the spotlight on hockey, while also demonstrating its commitment to more inclusive sports practice.
The Torch Relay is a perfect illustration of hockey's desire to open itself up and become a sport that is open and accessible to everyone. The various forms of hockey will be present at the two venues where the Torch Relay is being organised. Furthermore, Amiens and Bordeaux represent both the history and the future of our sport in a fun, entertaining nd healthy way.
Team Relay in Amiens, July 4.
Located right in the heart of Amiens, on the Town Hall esplanade, the OlympicTorch Relay will be an opportunity for the FFH to showcase the different inclusive practices of hockey. The flame will be carried between three different pitches, each promoting an inclusive aspect of hockey: a wheelchair hockey pitch, a walking hockey pitch and a street hockey pitch.
The Olympic Torch Relay captain is Annemieke Fokke, an Olympian (Barcelona 1992) who is committed to the development of hockey in the Amiens region.
Having taken part in the Olympic Games in 1992, I am very honoured to carry this Olympic Flame, which is so legendary and represents so many values for each member of the Relay (champions in their own way!). We are all looking forward to seeing this Flame arrive in Paris, and we wish that the Paris 2024 edition will be a great one!
For the first time in the history of the Games, each day of the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, relay teams of 24 people, made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches, etc. will be organized to spread the energy of sport and teamwork throughout the country.
