Created in 1881, the French Cycling Federation (FFC) is an Olympic Sports Federation, approved and delegated by the Ministry of Sports. Its mission is to organise, promote and develop the sport of cycling in all its forms throughout France. It has more than 2,500 affiliated clubs and almost 110,000 members. The FFC has 12 disciplines: road cycling, track cycling, mountain biking, BMX racing, BMX freestyle, cyclo-cross, pump track, e-cycling, cycle polo, gravel cycling, indoor cycling and recumbent cycling.
Its headquarters are located at the national cycling centre in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the Pôle France which will host the track cycling and BMX racing events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
For the French Cycling Federation, the team Torch Relay is a great opportunity to showcase our disciplines and highlight the Olympic values that we share on a daily basis: fair play, the development of sport, inclusion, education and performance. This is also an opportunity to unite our champions, volunteers and supporters around a unifying project in this special year for French sport.
Team Relay in Mont-Saint-Michel, May 31.
The team Relay organised by the French Cycling Federation at Mont-Saint-Michel on 31 May 2024 will feature a peloton of 24 cyclists: past and present champions, volunteers, cyclists of all ages, etc. The Relay riders will take the footbridge that enables almost three million people per year to visit Mont-Saint-Michel, a place that is emblematic of our region's rich heritage. The Relay will be led by an iconic captain: Guillaume Martin, who finished eighth in the Tour de France in 2021, with Laurence Leboucher, world mountain bike champion in 1998, at his side.
I am proud to be the captain of the French Cycling Federation's team Relay. Together with Laurence Leboucher, we will be delighted to represent the Manche department, alongside a host of cycling enthusiasts and volunteers, as we celebrate the spirit of sport and cycling. Let's make this a moment of celebration and communion around sport and cycling!
For the first time in the history of the Games, each day of the Olympic Torch Relay and Paralympic Torch Relay, relay teams of 24 people, made up of champions, everyday athletes, volunteers, referees, coaches, etc. will be organized to spread the energy of sport and teamwork throughout the country.
