General Interest

STOMA SURGERY
Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 18, she underwent emergency surgery (ileostomy) to remove her large intestine in October 2018. This left her with a stoma, an opening in her abdomen connected to the end of her digestive system and necessitated the use of an ostomy bag. Started an Instagram account (@athletewithstoma) to document her condition and combat the stigma associated with her condition. "Not many people know what is and a lot of people are scared of it, both the people that maybe will get it but also the people who don’t know what it is. I really wanted to have that role model when I got it, that you can continue with your life, that you can be physically active and play handball, be really physical, and it’s worked really good for me."
